DORDOGNE Departement, the former province of Perigord, is situated on the route between Paris and the Pyrenees. It stands midway between the North Pole and the Equator at a latitude of 45° and is crossed by the Trans-European highway. The Departement's central location and mild climate make it an ideal area to visit at any time of year.
Influenced by Atlantic, continental and mountain climates, the Dordogne is blessed with a variety of landscapes. This subtle diversity is expressed in the four colours used to describe the four different areas of the Périgord (white, black, purple and green).
These diverse landscapes and rich heritage make the Perigord a perfect destination for visitors keen to enjoy the myriad cultural and leisure activities on offer here.
